With the Oscars done and dusted once again it’s certainly been a notable one for successful women out there as Katherin Bigelow’s brilliant film the Hurt Locker scooped six Oscars. Most notably those for best picture and best director. However it also saw success for the larger lady as Mo’Nique walked away with the best supporting actress award for her role in Precious. Furthermore the film also brought notable mention for Gabourey Sidibe in the starring role which prompted the question, what other curvy women have in the past gone on to great success and accolade.27

Looking Into Women's Designer Shoes

Monday, March 29th, 2010

How many pair of Jimmy Choo shoes do you have in your closet? But how do you know if you have to many? Well, if you surf popular television shows, you are likely to find that there are never too many designer shoes for any one particular lady! Designers are consistently coming up with new designs and placing them out in the media in a seductive way, and once a woman is lured into even one designer shoe purchase, she is absolutely hooked!23

Designer shoes are simply made of better quality inputs, which naturally produce a more comfortable, longer lasting shoe. But before you sink all that cash into a pair of women’s shoes, carefully ensure the shoes fit properly. Having a shoe that is too wide or too narrow can result in hours of painful walking just as quickly as having the wrong shoe size. Also, keep in mind that the hottest shoe style may not be the style for your body.

Many women simply cannot pull off certain trendy shoes and must stay with the classic styles that “fit” them on a personal level. So, if you can pull off the most fashionable of designer shoes, please do.

How Much Did They Pay You to Give Up on Your Dreams?

Saturday, March 27th, 2010

As children our futures seem so bright, brimming with opportunity and unending hope. We dream of one day being astronauts, professional athletes, doctors, nurses, or even President.

As we grow older society begins to shape and mold our thoughts and philosophies. We are told that we need to be more practical. That we need to aim for lower more “realistic” goals and ambitions. We are told that in order to be successful in life we need to go to school, get good grades, and then get a good job.

Soon we start to believe that our cherished dreams and ambitions were all just childish fantasies and that we really need to be more practical about our goals and purposes in life. So we enter college and decide upon “practical” degrees and courses of study. We choose programs designed to give us a chance at scoring a good job when we enter the work place. We work hard to keep a good grade point average (GPA) to give us the best shot at persuading a potential employer of the legitimacy of our candidacy.

Then graduation comes! Excited about our future we storm out into the world and begin playing the resume game, hoping to land our dream job or career. Some of us are even fortunate enough to land such positions right out of college. But for the rest of us we often find ourselves settling for the best job offer we can find. And in many cases this “best” offer isn’t close to what we had hoped for.17
